The Ceol Flies

Irish Music from the mountains of  Moravia

Ondra Volčík - fiddle

Marketa Smazová - flute, whistles

Tomáš Byrtus - bodrhán,  guitar, vocals

Eoghan - guitar, accordion, whistles, vocals

Ondřej Volčík  - currently studying archeology, grew up with his native Wallachian music, was taught violin by his father.  Later turned to Irish music with the same respect and attention to detail he has for his own folklore music.

Marketa Smazová  - also an archeologist, adds tin whistle, the haunting sound of the low whistle and, most of all, the authentic style of flute playing that characterises Irish music.

Tomáš Byrtus (Gorolsko)- another folklorist, providing rhythm on bodhrán for the trad stuff and occasionally snare drum to give a skiffley beat. Can also turn out a rake of songs once he gets his hands on a guitar.

Meself (the Oul Fella), years of squeezing the bellows and crooning + ongoing relationships with a variety of instruments(before you ask, yes the wife is jealous!) Also penned a few songs in my time and, hopefully, there’s still a few more to come.

Darren Eve - English singer-songwriter and highly innovative guitarist, early member of the Flies.

Radovan Markus- flute player, former member of the famous Dun an Doras has also  joined us on occasion and remains an honorary Ceol Fly
